"Jaana zaruri hai kya" I asked him knowing well he won't stay back for me. Still, I hope he says I'm not going. But my hope shattered into several pieces as he said the next words.
"It's my duty Vaani" He said as he wore the Indian Army cap on his head. It's his duty. To protect the country.
We got married yesterday. It was not a big fat wedding and a small one which only included our parents and love ones.
And now he is leaving me.
In this period of past two years when we were dating, he always assured me that he'll come back whenever he got a call, but it's different today.
He didn't uttered anything besides saying he has to leave. Why isn't he giving me an affirmation that he will come back.
"Wapas aaoge na" I asked him getting up from the bed. His face was devoid of emotions. His eyes were blank. I'm afraid what he will say next.
In the past five years of knowing him, those charcoal black eyes were never blank. They always told me that he is there for me but why not today. Why are they blank and are not telling me anything.
"Aana tumhare paas hi hai. Chahe chalke ya..." Before he could say anything else, I placed my palm on his mouth.
Tears started blurring my vision. Why is everything feeling so wrong?
"Tum dur jaana chahte ho mujhse?" I asked as a sob left from my mouth. My voice cracking.
"Pagal ho kya. Tum ho toh main hoon. Where will I go without you" he said cupping my cheeks and wiping off the tears.
I felt like melting in his touch. Those rough hands on my skin felt most comforting.
He pecked my lips gently. I melted into his touch and pulled him closer to deepen the kiss. I want this moment to stop. I want him to stay beside me. Forever.
He pulled back from the kiss as we heard the horn of the army jeep. He will go now. Leaving me behind. Alone in this house.
"Wapas aa jaana. Mere liye" I said for the last time. I was holding his hand and he gently removed it from my hold.
"I'll come back. Till then wait for me" he said and pecked my forehead before leaving.
As he was on the doorstep, he turned back and looked at me smiling. I smiled back at him and bid him a bye.
He gave me a flying kiss and I saw him leaving.
I heard the roaring sound of the engine, the sound faded in few moments, a sign that he left. He left for his country.
It's his duty and mine is to wait for him till he comes back to me.
Waiting is hard. But it's worth it if I'll get to spend the rest of my life with HIM. My love. The person who has my heart and soul.
I'm thrilled to announce this new book of mine. Previously, the book was posted on scrollstack but I was unable to deliver the best. Anyways I'll to do my best this time.
The name of the female character is changed because most of the names of characters in my previous books are named from initial letter 'a' and it will be complicated for y'all to differentiate between the characters. Previously it was Aridhaan and Aradhya and now it's Aridhaan and Vaani.
